Can Discord owners see deleted messages?

Answer #1:

The answer can be a yes or a no.

There are two types of logs on Discord:

  1. Audit Logs. These are the default types of logs on Discord
  2. Bot Logs. These are special types of logs you can set up using bots such as MEE6, Dyno, Carl Bot, and many other bots.

So now the question, can Discord owners see deleted messages?

If they have Bot Logs setup, yes they can. Not only them, but also all of the Admins and Moderators in the server.

If they don’t have Bot Logs, then no, they can’t see your deleted messages. They can see who deleted your message and who wrote the message, but other than that they can’t see the actual contents of the message.

Answer #2:

Although the answers below were great, most of them only covered the owner of a discord server. The way this question was asked there are two viable answers.

Can the owner of the corporation, Discord, see deleted messages?

Yes. Just like essentially every communication service on the planet, they have deleted logs of what message every single user on the platform sends. If someone were to copy a message ID and send it to Discord staff, they could view the contents (even if the message was deleted!) Discord is omniscient about what happens on their platform.

Can the owner of a specific Discord server see all deleted messages in their server?

No, not without integrations added onto their server. They can however see Audit Logs, which will show if a Moderator or Administrator deleted someone else’s message using their permissions. If a user deletes their own message, it is not viewable through audit logs.

Integrations (bots) are capable of creating logs and transcripts of when a user deleted a message, what was in the message, and when the message was originally sent. There are several bots that can do this using either Python, Node.js, or integrating one of Google’s many APIs.

Answer #3:

I don’t completely understand what you mean by “Discord owners”.

If you’re talking about the owner of a Discord server, by default, they cannot see the message deleted. If your message was deleted by someone else, it will state that your message was deleted in the audit log, but it does not show the contents of the message. The only way around this if is a server has a bot that logs all messages.

The owners of a group DM also cannot see deleted messages.

Hope this helps!. If you have any other questions relating to this, just ask.

Answer #4:

I absolutely can. With the help of discord bots, you can get a bot that has message logs. Once you enable that setting, choose a channel for the logs to send to, and you will be able to see deleted messages. You can also use BetterDiscord, but I advise against it because it’s against the Discord terms of service.

Answer #5:

I’m pretty sure that you can’t find deleted chat conversation on discord. When someone deletes a message it’s gone.

Discord posted this also on their twitter page

Answered By: Nikola Nikolic

Answer #6:

I’m not sure if you can. I know servers keep logs of all edited and deleted messages but not sure if one can retrieve the messages themselves.

Maybe you should try asking in the official Twitter account or find how to contact the support team.

Answer #7:

I know of 1 way and 1 way only: If you are re-invited to a group conversation or if the person with whom you were chatting is able to message you back and does so.

They get the attention of the person with a red 1 on their server icon, most usually mark as read, but some who do view them, these are done for important purposes only, no one likes this,

Hey , this guy <- at mentioned, how you doin

Hey, this guy <- You’re cool, be my friend pls.

Impatient people will most likely flip you off, kindly also in the reply section turn of the ping off, it is hella annoying.

Answer #3:

If a person has do not disturb on or has notifications off, a ping will bypass that and still give them a notification, good for getting their attention.

How can you tell how long a discord call is?

Answer #1:

You Can’t. Discord calls are not recorded. Discord uses end-to-end encryption and while a nation state could theoretically record them, why would they? Millions of people spend millions of hours per year chatting on Discord. Even if someone wanted to record those calls, the storage overhead would be huge.

How do you go live on a mobile discord?

Answer #1:

You cannot simply go live on a discord whether you are on PC or a mobile. You 1st have to join a server or make a server after joining or making a server you can run a game come back to the discord server and click on the game it will showing in your profile then by clicking the button and prssing going live you will be live but some of the servers which are big 1st require the role to go live so you dont just go live and show something you are not supposed to see but after you get live be aware your screen will be shared everywhere you go people can see and your information can be seen by many people so be on your guard while being live hope this helps.

Answer #2:

Unfortunately, the Go Live feature is still unavailable for mobile phones. You can only go live from the Windows Desktop app. If you want to watch a stream, you can do it from both the browser and the desktop client.
